Half day
Ancient, Colonial and Modern Lima Tour
Pickup at your hotel: the Flamenco Travel team will pick you up at your hotel in central Lima, San Isidro or Miraflores to start a tour through the three periods of Lima's history: ancient, colonial and modern.
Ancient Lima: Huaca Pucllana: we'll start with a panoramic view of Huaca Pucllana, a ceremonial and archaeological center built in the 4th century A.D. that the Incas considered a «sacred town».
Colonial Lima: Historic Center: next we'll head to the Historic Center of Lima, capital of the Viceroyalty of Peru, the most important in the Spanish Empire. There you'll see more than fifty colonial monuments and buildings, including Paseo de la República, Plaza San Martín, the Main Square, the Government Palace, the Archbishop's Palace, the Cathedral and the City Hall. Your Flamenco Travel guide will tell you the history and architecture of each place.
San Francisco Monastery: we'll visit the San Francisco Monastery, the largest collection of colonial religious art in the Americas. Its highlight is the underground crypts known as the catacombs.
Modern Lima: we'll finish in the city's most traditional residential areas: El Olivar Park in San Isidro, Miraflores, with its parks and ocean views, and Larcomar, where the tour ends.
